Melanie Scofield

Friends and Family Minister, Maine

I’m Melanie Scofield- a folk herbalist, trained clinically, and community focused. I’m also a sacred mushroom minister that has been providing ceremonies for those looking to dive deep into the subconscious to bring back precious pearls of wisdom. I’ve been on a path to get trained in modalities that I believe have transformational outcomes. Last year I completed my Compassionate Inquiry Training with Dr. Gabor Mate and Sat Dharam Khalsa,  which has been an invaluable tool, especially in the integration process after a mushroom ceremony.

I’m grateful for the teachings of the plants, and all those whose mission it is to bring forth light, compassion, and healing to the world. That gratitude extends out to Eric and Courtney and all the good people affiliated with Psanctuary Church. Some people ask, “so what exactly do you do as a mushroom minister?” First of all, I'd like so say that I view mushrooms as the cleanup crew of the underworld. They are there to clear out unconscious blockages in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms- anything that is blocking us from living authentically. I see them acting as scavengers- searching for roadblocks and helping us to face our fears. Sometimes they do so in ways that are ineffable, in ways we can not predict at all. They ultimately aim to bring wholeness. The road to wholeness is often a winding and non-linear road.

These experiences are illuminating, and completely unique to the individual. So the answer to "what is it that I do" is: I travel with individuals to hell and back- to blissful dimensions of unitive consciousness, I sit with individuals while they journey thru time and space, thru past, present and future. I am not afraid to confront your demons with you, to meet your shadow, or to see the truth that is staring you in the face. I am a humble servant to humanity, to life, and even to the sacred mushrooms.  I see my role as a mushroom minister the greatest privilege, for in that space I get to witness and play a small part in the possibility of transformation, evolution, and spiritual healing. When you heal, I heal.  "We are all walking each other home."
